The information contained in the table below indicates the net profit generated per acre by the average farmer in the SW MN Farm Business Management Association. This profit is the return to the operators labor and management per acre. For example: In 2001 the average farmer received for his time and effort in raising alfalfa hay a return of $114.04 per acre. The average farmer lost $69.61 per acre raising corn. Loan deficiency payments and market gains are included as income to the enterprise gross income. However, other government programs (AMPTA, MLP, DP, CCP, CSP, etc.) payments are not included in any of the profit figures listed below. All data is from returns generated on cash rented land.
