About ITQ

Our 10-day Improving Teacher Quality (ITQ) workshop engages K-12 teachers in hands-on science activities that foster understanding of the scientific inquiry process and how it relates to the classroom. Teachers increase their scientific knowledge base, learn new activities and techniques for teaching science, and receive a number of resources and supplies for their classrooms.

The lab activities introduced at the ITQ workshop are designed to engage students in hands-on experiments that include laboratory data gathering, interpretation, analysis and summary. Minnesota Academic Science Standards are provided. Teacher participants bring their schools' science curricula to develop lesson plans for the grade levels they teach using the content and lab equipment from ITQ.

In previous years, ITQ workshops focused on sundials and school gardens, nutrition, the garden and you, plant nutrition, climate change, and composting.
