According to the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, depression is a common psychological problem, experienced by many people at some time during their lives. In most families, one member has experienced depression severe enough to require formal treatment. Depression isn’t always associated with children and adolescents; depression can be mistaken for typical development in these age groups.
