Register now for Cover Crop Field Day on August 18

Register now for the 2022 "Cover Crop Field Day: Setting up for Success" at the Southwest Research and Outreach Center by Lamberton, August 18. Check-in will start at 8:30 a.m., and the field day will run from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m, (lunch included). The field tour will start promptly at 9:00, weather permitting, and the event will be held rain or shine. 

This program is for farmers and those who work with farmers, with or without cover crop experience, and anyone else who would like to learn more about cover crops. After lunch, all interested are invited and encouraged to participate in a Needs Assessment/Focus Group discussion from 1:00 – 2:00 to discuss cover crop research and educational needs. 

Pre-register by August 12 to ensure yourself a meal at https://z.umn.edu/covercropfieldday. Later registrations and walk-ins are still welcome but timely registration is required to ensure yourself a meal. 

Field Day Topics Include: 

  • Interseeding cover crops in corn
  • Planting green with corn and soybean/ termination-timing trial
  • Termination options
  • Summer seeding / prevent plant options
  • Insect interactions with cover crops
  • Cover crops and residual herbicides
  • Breeding efforts with cover crops
