IPM STUFF NOTES - 8/2/2024

Corn rootworm damage to corn roots appears to be lower in some, but not all, Southern Minnesota fields that saw standing water or late planting. Western corn rootworm beetle populations and root injury remain high in fields with lower rainfall or well-drained areas.

To the north, northern corn rootworm beetles are abundant in some fields without Bt technology.

The next 2-3 weeks are optimum for assessing beetle populations in your fields to help determine the potential threat to subsequent corn crops.

As they usually do this time of year, soybean aphid populations have increased and fields are being colonized by migrating winged aphids https://blog-crop-news.extension.umn.edu/2024/08/soybean-aphid-infestations-increasing.html

This is the last issue of IPM STUFF.  I have had fun with these. Who knows,  it may reappear in a different venue in the future.

Happy Trails!
