Sustainable, stable crop production requires increasing plant and soil resilience to extreme and often unpredictable weather both wet and dry. In addition, creating sustainable, stable, and resilient production systems will require farmers to proactively and adaptively managing their farm operations in ways to safeguard farm productivity and profitability against the negative
effects of extreme weather.
To make informed, evidence-based management decisions under changing climate conditions,
data is needed. As weather patterns change, repeated measurements over years and decade can reveal what may be abrupt or slow but incremental changes in crop yield and quality, as well as changes in soil properties and processes.
